SELECT A DATE AND TIME

I list this step below finding a location simply because once you find a location, you can typically work with them to see what dates they have available.  I would recommend going into this with a few dates in mind and know that you are probably going to need to be flexible on days and times.

This step should be considered carefully.  If you are hosting a back to school event, make sure that you do it close enough to the start of school that people can get in on good deals, but not so close that the families you are trying to help may have gone out and already acquired these items.

If you are wanting to host an event in June, consider graduation parties and so on.

For the Christmas Crusade, I wanted to have the event on December 5th.  Unfortunately, the church already had an event scheduled for that day.  I now had to decide to move it up a week (weekend following Thanksgiving) or back a week (now getting closer to Christmas).  I selected the week following (the 12th) because I think it’s more likely that people will be able to come this weekend verses the weekend following Thanksgiving when they may still be celebrating with friends and family.
