READ HOW YOU CAN MAKE ME DONATE!
I WILL DONATE UP TO $110.00 FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND LINKS!

Over the years, I have found that simply amazing people come out of no where when times get rough.  They step up to the plate and take things head on to make things better in this world.

If you have been around here for any length of time, you know that I talk about the POWER OF ONE.  Some think that the little they do is not going to make a difference, but it will.  Your thoughts, ideas and actions lead others to thoughts ideas and actions and before you know it, you have started something!

Erin at 5dollardinners.com is one of those people that have made such amazing things happen in her life.  She took her blog and turned it into something amazing and just recently published a book about feeding your family dinner for just $5.00!  Check out her book The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook: 200 Recipes for Quick, Delicious, and Nourishing Meals That Are Easy on the Budget and a Snap to Prepare.

While reading, I noticed this morning that she and her husband Steve are putting up $5.00 per post (up to $500.00) for bloggers that list what they are planning to do to help.  I later came to realize that I think it was Crystal with Money Saving Mom that started this awesome movement and is giving $10 for every bloggers that participates and links up on her site!  AMAZING!  It’s people like this that make a difference!  Update: this is so much bigger than I  orginally thought!  So many bloggers are involved to help!

So, here’s my action:

My son’s school sent an email this week notifying us that they were collecting cash, canned goods, personal care items, etc and Matthew 25 Ministries was going to take care of all transportation needs for these donations.  I will be hitting the stockpile and pulling items to donate.  I will also be sending Erin $10.00.  This is $5.00 to match the donation that she is about to give on my behalf and an additional $5.00 just as my way of doubling the kindness Erin is showing with this effort.  Thank you Erin for your generosity and concern for the people of Haiti!

I have decided to take this one step further.  I will donate $0.50 $1.00 per comment left here (up to $100.00).  My total donation could reach $110.00 plus stockpile items donated to the school!  Leave your comments and links to make me donate!  ($10.00 to Erin, up to $100.00 to the American Red Cross)

My husband just had total knee replacement and is in physical therapy.  If not for the expenses of this, we’d be doing more to help this cause!

I encourage you to check out Erin’s site 5dollardinners.com and consider purchasing her wonderful cookbook (FOUND HERE) full of money saving menus!

Have you joined this effort?  Leave a link so our readers know!3

Thank you for doing this – every little bit will help! And it looks like there will be lots of “little bits” all over the internet the next several days.
My family donated the American Red Cross on Wednesday.

Thank you for what you are doing; I know that you are blessing those that are suffering the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti. Being inspired by you and all of the other Help for Haiti bloggers, I am giving $100 to Doctors without Borders, which the kind folks at :http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/index.php are matching. Matching donations really helps, and consequently, I wrote my last post about where people can find people who are willing to match their donations (its being done by people other than just employers), donate to auctions, volunteer, donate airline miles and cell phones and gadgets, attend benefits, and more. So even if you can’t give very much there are ways to stretch that amount. And that is what I am trying to do. My next post will contain updates and even more places that let people get involved; and I hope to start my own donation for a link/comment challenge; but it will take a couple days for me to finish this post. http://thescholarshipblog.blogspot.com/
Again, thank you.
