Last night I was fortunate enough to be asked to join some other great bloggers for a Meet and Greet event at Kroger.  I was so excited about this as Kroger has not really reached out to the blogging world before in such a way.  To see that they recognized our work and our love of their store was pretty neat.

The main “jist” of the night was to tell us about their new Kroger / Shell fuel program.  From there it expanded to so much more.

In case you have not heard, Kroger has teamed up with Shell to give you the ability to use your Kroger card there to use the fuel rewards that you have built up.  Before this, if you did not live near a Kroger with the gas station, you were SOL.  Kroger realized this and has worked hard to change this so everyone could take full advantage.  You can get so many details and more HERE. I will also dedicate one post to the fuel program this weekend.

We all know that my favorite all time store to shop is Kroger, but last night we discussed some things that just proves to me why they have earned that title.

  • Very (VERY) strong committment to protecting our identity and our information.
  • Their way of thinking within the “office” is not to make a phone call and get the answer, but to get off their tuffs and go find out.  They were very intersted in all of our feedback – particularily the bad because that gives them insight and tips on how they can improve because without “us”, there is no “them” and they get that.

A few exciting things coming in the near future:

  • P&G Electronic Coupons are coming back!!!!  It’s true, so watch for a post as I will let you know when to start loading up those cards.
    • While you will be able to load coupons to the Kroger cards, you will NOT be able to combine them with the paper coupons as you may have been doing to this point.  There has been so much back and forth and lack of communications from the electronic coupon companies, but it’s now verified.  You are not to use these coupons together “stack” and their new systems (very soon) will start to catch that and reject the practice.  Definately something to keep in mind.
  • Not only are P&G coupons coming back, but you will also be able to load the coupons from the Sunday ads (Smartsource and RedPlum) directly to your card as well.  For those that don’t want to clip the Sunday coupons, this is a great way to still get in on some of the savings.  Again, you cannot stack these coupons with paper coupons.
  • You will soon be able to build grocery lists, search recipes and load all of your coupons in one area of the Kroger.com site.
  • Talk of possible Kiosks are in the works as well so you can manage your lists and so you can possibly print them when you arrive to the store for such events when you are making an unplanned stop or in case you left your list at home.

We have been given contact information so we can have a direct link to Kroger.  They want us to share what we are hearing, what we see going on in the stores and anything that we might deem necessary to bring up.

While there, I got to hang out with some old blogging friends and meet some new ones that I have conversed with but never actually meet before.  Ladies, it was such a nice night.  Glad I got to see / meet you!

Because I love Kroger and they filled my gas tank last night, I am doing a giveaway (sponsored by ME) for a $10 Kroger gift card to the first person that can tell me what my “AKA” is for my local store.

The fun will not stop there, as Kroger has given me some gift cards for you as well.  We will talk about that in a later post that you won’t want to miss!  In the meantime……WHAT IS MY “AKA” (Also known as….) FOR MY KROGER?

I am curious to learn more about this new initiative and collaboration. A few questions that come to mind: Will the electronic coupons now double? Will the e-coupons be similar to the old fuel rewards, in which you elect whether you want to use them (say you have better Qs in hand vs. the electronic Qs)?

I think Jen and are on the same train of thought as those were the very same questions that came to my mind…

Not sure if I read something wrong or not . . . but I tried using my Kroger card at a Shell station today. I had 100 points earned this month so far, and 300 points from last month. I expected 30 cents off per gallon, but only 10 cents came off.

Not sure that I like the idea of loading coupons onto my card if they aren’t going to stack. I want to make sure the best coupon is being used, and I want to be the one making that decision based on something in writing in front of me. I’m sure there will be times that I have a coupon in hand but won’t remember about a coupon loaded on my card which probably wouldn’t double.

Loading other types of coupons on my card instead of clipping . . . I would only get to use one of each coupon that way right? I’d rather clip!

Sorry. I love to do my grocery shopping at Kroger, but I’ve worked with them on a professional level and I’m very skeptical about them being able to implement all of this. They can’t even handle a deal/catalina/coupon match on Purex. (Among other things that I won’t mention for possible confidentiality reasons.)

I think that some of the comments already mentioned on here (Jen and Danielle) are really good points. I was disappointed by the Purex catalina situation when that was pulled earlier this week. If that was pulled due to overuse by some customers, they could have placed a reasonable limit to the number of Purex catalinas that would be issued per card.
If the loaded coupons don’t double I won’t be participating.

I would much rather have a paper coupon(or multiple coupons) than one e-coupon that would not double. Also, the best part of e-coupons was that you could stack with a paper coupon. I kinda wondered if this was allowed but I never read anything about it not being allowed. I figured that if it wasn’t allowed that the computer wouldn’t take my coupon. It would be neat to add some sunday coupons to your card just to have an extra coupon, however, I would still buy extra papers. One thing I wish Kroger would do is have store coupons on a regular basis that give you an amount off of your total. Giant Eagle usually sends out $5 off of $50 coupons.

Kroger is my FAVORITE store too! I admit, I do shop elsewhere too, but as long as their price is comparative, I go to Kroger. Their service and dedication to the customer being satisfied is outstanding!! Add the fact that you don’t have to worry over just 2 identical cpns doubling, and they are at the top as far as I am concerned! (BTW, I usually have only 2, sometimes 4 papers I get cpns from, so the doubling of only 2 affects the smaller consumer too, not just “shelf clearers”, which I am not and would not be!! Glad Kroger is reaching out more!!
