Meijer, another store at the tops of our covered stores here on Nickels-n-Dimes works in very different ways than Kroger. Don’t worry though because you are about to get walked through the store by hand via this post to make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck!
The following facts and stats are current at the time of posting and accurate for the Greater Cincinnati Market.
- DOUBLE MANUFACTURER COUPONS: Meijer offers double coupons with a limit of two identical coupons. This means that if you have four (4) of the same coupon, only the first two will double. If you would like all four to double, you will need to break your order into two (2) separate transactions or come back at another time. Please refer to Meijer’s coupon policy HERE.
- STORE COUPONS: Meijer offers store coupons. These store coupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for additional savings. (Example: if there is a Crest toothpaste manufacturer coupon for $1 off and a Meijer Mealbox coupon for $1.00 off, you can “stack” the two and get $2.00 off.
- Please refer to the MEIJER MEALBOX to get these coupons.
- Refer to the box on the right side of the page.
- Select the “SPECIALS” tab.
- Scroll the coupons and select to ADD TO LIST the coupons that you’d like to print.
- When you are ready to print, select the SHOPPING LIST tab.
- Select PRINT on the upper right side of the box and select the manner you’d like to print!
- NOTE: these coupons do not double.
- PRINTABLE COUPONS: Meijer accepts printable coupons. (Please note these following printable tips are not Meijer specific). Print your coupons from reliable sources. For a list of reliable printable coupon site, please GO HERE. Do not (ever) use coupons that pull up in MS Word or a similar program. Stores do not put out coupons in this manner. CENTS OFF is a great resource and HERE you will find a list of coupons that have been discovered as fraudulent. If you suspect a coupon but it’s not listed, know that it simply may not be added yet. Follow your gut instinct!
- RAINCHECKS: Meijer offers rainchecks when items are out of stock (unless otherwise indicated). Get these as they are your way to making sure you get your products and your savings! This also buys you time to gather more coupons. Meijer rainchecks can be obtained at the customer service desk (or at checkout) and are valid for one month from the date of issue.
- OTHER STORE’S COUPONS: Meijer accepts competitor coupons. If you have a Kroger, Target or other coupon, they will accept this coupon and it too can be stacked with a manufacturer coupon!
- PROMOTIONS: Meijer is known for their Buy 10 for $10, get the 11th FREE sales. These can be great times to get many things for FREE. One of my favorite Meijer sales is their great 1/2 off Lysol products sale. During these sales, you will notice that coupons will either be coming out or getting ready to expire and this will lead to FABULOUS prices at checkout. DEFINATELY a stock up time!
- MARK DOWNS: Meijer stores tend to mark down their meats and get them out mid morning. This is a great way to get reduced meats. Percentages of savings tend to range from 20-40% off. Keep in mind that purchasing meat in this manner will require you to fix it soon or freeze it. We purchased a deep freezer for things like this!
- REUSABLE BAGS: Please note your bags can be from any store and of any style. They do not have to be Meijer purchased bags. On a personal note, I tend to like the blue Meijer bags best. They seem to be a better quality that hold up longer. (again…just my 2 cents!)
- RETAIL ITEMS: When shopping Meijer, make sure to make a trip down the outside aisles of the retail section as you tend to find some really great deals hidden there. I have a tendancy of searching these areas and thinking ahead of birthday / Christmas gifts that I know I will eventually need to purchase.

I would also like to point out that they often have pharmacy coupons available. I had to get a new prescription filled a couple weeks ago, spent $5 on my copay for the prescription, and got a $20 coupon to use on my next order. I used that towards charcoal and weed killer. Things that don’t really have coupons on their own. I also like to use the prescription coupons towards clothing or other necessities that don’t fall under my coupon list.
Becky,
Does Meijer take the Target web coupons also?
GREAT QUESTION, Kristie!! From Becky’s post, it sounds like they might!! Anxious to hear! Didn’t know they took competitor’s until recently, and thought only “manuf” ones w/ other store names.
and the drumroll……………..
YES!
While I have not done this myself, I have heard of MANY readers who have without any issues whatsoever! Can make a good deal even better if you catch a coupon that matches!
I tried to use Target coupons at Cold Spring Meijer this weekend and they said no…even after I questioned and they asked at the service desk.
