Jiffy Lube gives us Independence

I don’t know about you, but I DON’T want this LONG Independence Day weekend to come to an end.

To try and keep the theme of independence going, I thought that today would be a great day to tell you about Jiffy Lube and three ways they are giving us independence.

You can gain independence from auto loan payments, gain independence from some of the cost of an oil change and for two of you – independence from $35 worth of Jiffy Lube services!!

By changing your oil on a regular basis, you can “KEEP YOUR RIDE ALIVE” longer, therefore giving you independence from car payments in the future.  The longer you have that vehicle, the likelier your odds are at paying it off and driving auto debt free!

Did you know that more than half of drivers in the United States hope to get more than 150,000 miles out of their vehicle before replacing it?  I hope to.  Did you know that more than a quarter hope to see the 250,000 mile mark?  Not sure we will make it there!  ;)

Most drivers look to get more than an oil change when taking their vehicle in for service.  I know that I truly appreciate when I get my fluids and tires checked.  Vacuum out my carpets and I am tickled pink!

Jiffy Lube preformed a survey and found that most want their oil change finished in 30 minutes or less.  For me, this is a necessity.  I have WAY TOO MUCH going on to drop off my vehicle or sit around all day for something as simple as an oil change.

Another way to gain independence is via this $5 off coupon!  Who does not love coupon more than a nickel-n-dimer?  THIS COUPON will surely make your next trip to get the oil changed a happy event!  Fill out the request form and your coupon will be sent to you via email!

The final way to gain independence is by entering to win one of these 2 $35 gift cards that Jiffy Lube sent over for you!

How to KEEP YOUR RIDE ALIVE and win?

  1. To enter, you MUST “LIKE” Jiffy Lube via Keeping My Ride Alive AND Nickels-n-Dimes on Facebook.

AFTER you have done the above, you can get additional entries via:  (Remember…separate comment for each to count as a separate entry)

  1. Tell us…do you expect additional services such a fluids topped off, tires checked and carpets vacuumed?  If so, what services do you appreciate most when getting your oil changed?
  2. Tell us how many miles you currently have on your vehicle and what is the most that you’ve ever had.

This giveaway will end Saturday, July 10th at 8pm.  The winner will be announced within 48 hours of the close of this giveaway.  The “official” notification of winner will take place HERE on Nickels-n-Dimes.  The winner will be notified via email as well, but please note that the post HERE will be the official notice.  Winner will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be selected.

I was asked to host this giveaway by Jiffy Lube.  Jiffy Lube supplied me with the $35 gift cards for two lucky winners and supplied me with facts and details to complete the post.  I was NOT compensated in any manner for this post.

Our one and only car we have right now has 285,000 miles on it. It is a Honda Accord. We have been a one car family for about 4 years now and let me tell you it is NOT easy! We were on our way to Chuck E Cheese this morning for my daughter’s birthday party and the car died…right at the end of our road. Thank goodness for family that are always here to help us when we need it! Our house if for sale and AS SOON as we sell it…we are getting another car! =)

I expect very basic checks done along with my oil change. Fluids topped, tires checked, brakes looked at. I would like the lights to all be checked too. I think it makes good sense on both sides. If the service guy finds something small that’s wrong, odds are that I’ll tell him to go ahead and take care of it. And it gives me the convenience of not having to check the stuff myself. And if I feel like I’m taken care of, then I’ll keep coming back. I don’t so much need the vaccuuming. Because then I would have to pick up all the stacks of coupons off my floor before getting out. And although sorting coupons would be a great way to spend the time in the waiting room, it’s too much paperwork to cart around when I’m only there for twenty minutes.

I have 83,444 right now. I think 150 000 is reasonable. I had my last car, a Plymouth Neon, to 106,000. The engine went out on it and getting it fixed would cost more than the car is worth.

My current car – that is new-to-me, less than 6 weeks – has about 40k miles. however, it replaced my 11 year old Toyota with 170k – and it would have kept going, if I HAD taken better care of it in my earlier years with oil changes!!

I expect the services to be completed in an oil change that I’ve paid for such as the fluids to be topped off, pressure in the tires to be checked, air added as needed, etc. I GREATLY APPRECIATE the extra services such as vacuuming and cleaning the windows. Those little extras mean so much.

It’s hard to remember the highest mileage that I’ve ever had on an automobile, but I think it was my 1983 Pontiac Grand Prix. It had about 153K on it. It might have been my 1985 Honda Accord, I think it had around 189K. Then again, maybe it was my 1995 Ford Windstar that had around the 189K. Needless to say, I think it was a competition between these three vehicles. Over the last decade or so, I haven’t kept cars as long. Now that I’m retired, that’s not an option any more!
