Wrapping up the social

in Back to School,FOR THE GOOD OF OTHERS

In case you could not make it out to the social, I wanted to take a minute to tell you about it.  I did not want to post this at a time that I was hurried as I feel it deserves to have complete attention to try and thoroughly share with you the events.

First, let me say…TWO MEN AND A TRUCK (Florence, Industrial Road location) – you were the heroes of the day!  I can’t say enough nice things about this moving company.  We used them for our office move (and were VERY happy), so in preparation for this event, I called to see if they might like to donate some boxes for the items we collect.  They donated boxes for the donations, donated pens for the drive, brought coloring books and a helium tank with balloons for the kids, had numerous workers available to pack it all up and take it away.  I won’t even have to worry about it until I meet them on Friday to drop it all off at the Target store in Western Hills.  How’s that for service?  AND…they were all so incredibly nice!  Thank you Two Men and a Truck.

I also have to thank a handful of my friends and family that really chipped in to help out. Friday night, I was not doing well.  I was quite sick and they are the ones that got that place set up and did not stop there.  They were all there and working diligently on Saturday to make sure that everything was done and done with perfection.  Without them, this event would have never been so great!  Thank you!

I have to thank our many great sponsors that allowed us food, drinks, gifts, etc.

I have to thank everyone that came out, donated and made the event come to what I dreamed it would be!  I had a dream – you made it reality!

bringing the donations

DeAnna with Buck-a-Day.blogspot had the guys working it with the many boxes of donations!

When Truckie first arrived, he sent the kids screaming – seriously!  It was a crack up.  Truckie just stood there though honking his little horn and before long, the kids befriended him and they spent the rest of his stay chasing him around and bopping his sides.  Before he left, they got their picture with him and gave him hugs!

Ready to see some of the donations?

Little by little, these donations added up and in the end, this is what we had…

We also made $170.00 with the raffle items and with this, we got another $70 worth of school supplies and the other $100.00 will be handed over via a certified check so they can purchase the items that they find are still needed!

Success?  I THINK SO!

We (with Two Men and a Truck) will be dropping these items at the Target location in Western Hills on Friday at 7:30 to the Fox 19 / Q102 drop location.

Becky…it was a PLEASURE to attend your event and be such a part of it!!!! You worked so hard in getting people to come AND the sponsors to be on board. I want to help make this a much bigger event next year…maybe we could do this again in the Fall for your Xmas Crusade….let’s think about that and get back to me!!!! Love you much!!!!

I can say that I am truly honored to have been a part of something that made me feel so wonderful inside. Many, many children will benefit from your selfless soul! You are a inspiration and I am blessed to have met you.

Keep up the wonderful work that you do and I look forward to helping in any way that I can for your Christmas Crusade, even though I look a bit frumpy in the picture. Just kidding.

God bless!

Wow! I’d love to do something like this down here in Louisville. I help run a coupon clippers forum, and we are trying to donate to a different charity each month. It really REALLY feels great to give back!

Please do share what you do with this Christmas Crusade! Is it a toy drive?

May God bless!
